2 - Champs Elysées /Arc de Triomphe (Arc of Triumph)

The incredible structure known as the Champs Elysées or Arc de Triomphe (Arc of Triumph) is the largest monument of its kind and a must-see for anyone visiting the city. Commissioned in 1806 by Napoleon to honor his army's victories across Europe (though he would never see its completion), the top of the arc lists the names of generals and great French victories, and the pillars are adorned with sculptures.

Famous for its glittering hall of mirrors, the palace boasts over 700 rooms full of luxuriant furniture and priceless Renaissance art. Furthermore, you'll find magnificent gardens filled with fountains, flowers, and statues outside.

Montmarte used to be an entirely separate village before becoming a part of France in 1860. Yet, even today, it still feels a place apart. Head down the winding lanes to discover cafes, parks, quaint museums, restaurants, and lounges. At the heart of Montemarte lies the Byzantine-style white Basilica of Sacre Coeur, a must-see sight in its own right. The Seine River runs straight through central Paris and can be enjoyed in many different ways. Originally built during the middle ages, this Roman Catholic cathedral was once considered the finest example of french gothic architecture. Unfortunately, a devastating fire in 2019 ruined the cathedral, which is currently being reconstructed. That said, you can still admire the high towers and other features from a distance while the ongoing repairs continue.
